GigaCenter, a Tier III colocation data center in Kyiv, was damaged in a Russian attack on October 20, and customers may see disruptions to equipment hosted there, according to Interfax-Ukraine, which cited the company's Facebook post.
The company said it was working to contain the consequences of the strike. LIGA.net reported on October 21 that the site had taken critical damage and been taken out of service. Other outlets are less uniform: the company's own wording, as relayed by Interfax-Ukraine, says only "damaged", and it gave no figure for lost capacity.
Interfax-Ukraine said the attack came a night after Russian forces hit the data center of telecom operator Datagroup PJSC on October 19. Datagroup has been part of the DVL group (Datagroup-Volia-lifecell) since September 2024, and Interfax-Ukraine reported that the infrastructure there was completely destroyed and cannot be restored. That puts two Kyiv data centers hit within about 24 hours.
