Hana Technology, a South Korean battery equipment maker, will begin shipping cell electrolyte-filling and baking equipment to Agratas, the battery arm of India's Tata Group, in November, according to TheElec, which cited industry sources on Oct. 22.
The equipment passed factory acceptance testing this month. TheElec reported that Hana's turnkey assembly-equipment contracts with Agratas total 319.1 billion won: 157.6 billion won signed in December 2025 and 161.5 billion won in June 2026. Some assembly equipment is still being built. A Hana official said delivery for the first production line starts in the fourth quarter, with more lines supplied in stages.
Agratas runs one battery factory in India and one in the United Kingdom, TheElec reported. The Sanand plant in Gujarat has begun receiving production equipment, while the Bridgwater plant in Somerset is still under construction. Both aim to grow gradually to 40 GWh of annual capacity, and Agratas aims to finish equipment deliveries to the Indian factory by the first half of 2027. Voltgrid News reported earlier on India's downstream battery manufacturing capacity. Cell output at Sanand therefore depends on tool deliveries like this one: announced capacity is not operating capacity until the lines are installed and qualified.
The delay is already visible in the schedule. A Hana official told TheElec the testing period ran one to two months longer than planned because the customer chose a more thorough performance verification. Other Korean suppliers on the project have already shipped, including Yunsung F&C with mixing equipment, PNT with electrode equipment and Philenergy with notching equipment.
Agratas uses prismatic cells, TheElec noted. Hana's equipment covers the assembly stage after the electrode assembly is built: baking removes moisture and volatile substances from the cells, filling machines inject electrolyte, and the injection ports are then sealed before inspection and the first electrical charge in formation.

The order flow matters to Hana itself. TheElec reported first-half 2026 revenue of 13.6 billion won and an operating loss of 10 billion won. It said Hana expects to book about 80 billion won of first-phase Agratas equipment in stages from the fourth quarter, and that its order backlog stood at 482.5 billion won at the end of the second quarter. A 2025 order of about 29 billion won tied to SK On's Nissan battery line was canceled after the SK On and Ford joint venture ended.
The report rests on unnamed industry sources and a Hana official; neither Hana nor Agratas has published a shipment announcement that Voltgrid has seen. Dates for the later lines and for first cells from Sanand were not given.
