Sensata Technologies (NYSE: ST) on October 22 launched the FL Series, a line of ultrasonic liquid cooling flow sensors for data centers that supports flow rates up to 400 liters per minute, the company said in a Business Wire release.
The sensors measure coolant flow with a design Sensata calls non-intrusive, with no moving parts, an IP65 rating and low pressure drop. Sensata claims flow accuracy of up to ±1% of full scale. That figure is the vendor's own and the release gives no test conditions.

Sensata says the FL Series sensors handle up to 400 L/min of flow at a claimed ±1% of full scale and feed controls through digital and analog outputs.

The company says the sensors are meant for primary and secondary cooling loops in coolant distribution units (CDUs), chillers, HVAC systems and industrial cooling equipment, and are compatible with the deionized water and glycol mixtures commonly used in liquid cooling. Outputs are digital and analog, compatible with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and building management systems. Buyers can choose housing materials, connection types and communication protocols, and integrated temperature sensing is optional.
