Peak Energy, a developer of passively cooled sodium-ion energy storage systems for the grid, said on October 21 that it has closed an oversubscribed Series B round of $108 million. General Motors Ventures led the round, with participation from Maverick Silicon, Infinite Capital, Eclipse, Xora Innovation and LG Technology Ventures, according to the company's press release.

The Series B lands between the factory reveal and the Q1 2027 production target for Sacramento.

Peak said the money will go to three things: scaling domestic manufacturing, fulfilling more than $1 billion in existing customer orders, and launching its product for the data center market. The company framed that market around a single constraint, saying access to power has become the primary limit on data center growth.
